About Me

Hello, my name is Danielle Lowery-Ruscher. Every day, I get to dive into my passion for graphic design, exploring everything from branding and illustration to page layout, typography, and photography. As the Senior Graphic Designer of Popular Woodworking, I am in charge of the layout and design of the magazine, photo correction, vector and hand-drawn illustrations, press production work, web design, and video animation. Working alonside a team of editors and woodworkers, I've found myself inspired to pick up woodworking tools and try something new.

Woodworking and graphic design are not my only passions, though. From an early age, I sought creative outlets, once removing wallpaper to fill the space with my own drawings. This prompted my mother to introduce me to the fine arts. Not long after, I was dancing through the grocery store aisles, leading my parents to enroll me in dance classes at the age of 3, further expanding my creative experiences. By fifth grade, when it came time to pick an instrument, I chose percussion because rhythm already thrmmed inside me. Thoughout my life, art has remained a consistent and guiding influence. This led me to become an illustrator, creating hand-drawn illustrations based on creative briefs for Garden Gate and Writer's Digest magazines. It also led me to take on various roles at a local community theater, Dayton Playhouse, including graphic designer of their show programs, set designer, builder, painter, and props artist.

I may no longer dance from dawn to dusk or march in the marching band, but my art, dance, and music background inspires the art I do today! I combine my love for the fine arts and hand-drawn illustrations into my ideas and concepts striving to make designs that encompass the heart of what each client does. Whether you are looking for a graphic designer, illustrator, and artist, you can trust me to bring your concept to life.

I’ve had the pleasure to work with Danielle... when she happily agreed to pitch in when our designer needed an extra hand on our fine art [magazine] titles... Danielle has a great attitude.
